Styles: Contemporary Singer/Songwriter, Adult Alternative, blending country, blues, and jazz

Barrington was born into a musical world. Before bedtime, his father played country songs on guitar for him and his brother Steve. Barrington says, "My influence and styles are very much made up of music that my parents made that I heard growing up. It's ingrained in me." Initially, it wasn't in Barrington's mind to become a singer, but he liked the craft of songwriting.

Barrington was raised in Southern California and majored in music in college while performing in churches and clubs to subsidize his education. Alan landed a publishing deal with Maranatha Records for the song "Old Age." The song was released on a compilation LP featuring Richie Furay of Poco, Leon Patillo of Santana, and Bob Bennett. After signing the record deal, he dropped out of college and hit the road to promote the record. Barrington has released five LPs and is an award-winning songwriter touring the US and Canada. He is also a regular at the Charlotte Symphony Summer Pops Series.
